Winter Blues (blue runners of course!)

So this last week we have had a huge dump of snow. It’s been a bit of an emotional rollercoaster for me. One minute I am in my glory enjoying the beauty of all of this white stuff and the next minute I am dreading going outside. For the most part, it’s gorgeous. Sun is shining today. Life is good.

I managed to get a few runs on the treadmill during the snow fall but I knew long term, this is not where I want to be spending my time running. Plus I need to get used to winter conditions to prepare myself for the Hypothermic Half. This means … new sneakers!!!! We took a trip up to Runner’s Sole the other day to get fitted for my daily sneaker as well as to learn what runners use in the winter.

The options!

After trying on a few different winter running options I went for the Peregrine 7 ICE+ by Saucony. These shoes are designed for winter running and I can also use them on the trails in the winter, if I decide to do any trail running. There is a grip on the bottom to keep me on my feet while running on slick areas.

Today I am going to take these for a spin on my first outdoor run this week!

For my daily driver (or runner) I tried on quite a few sneakers and landed on another Saucony. I have never bought Saucony before so we will see how my feet feel after a few runs.

I have taken these for a spin on the treadmill and I LOVE them. I love the look and feel and I look forward to many kilometers to be explored in these new kicks!

This past week I have had to increase my kilometers to 37km. This has been a hard task for me on the treadmill. Seriously, kudos to the people that can run on the treadmill for more than 4 minutes. YouTube, music, running inspo pictures couldn’t keep me motivated. Yesterday I only managed to get 3 km before deciding I would rather increase my next two runs over putting in anymore time on the treadmill. I think it’s also important for me to make sure I’m getting my run done first thing in the morning as the longer I take my runs into the day the harder I find them.

Sadly we are dealing with really cold temps so this sissy girl is stuck on the treadmill until it warms up a bit more.

Happy Holidays,

Amanda
